There's absolutely no reason for me to be so mad about this for so long but I am so I'm going to complain about it.

This guy came in the store today to get some money for his phone. Fine. I ring him up and the touchscreens on our card machines are a little, well, touchy. He put his pin in wrong. First off, he's a shaky guy so of course it took him three tries and he's getting exponentially more irritated by this. First major jerkism:

"Damn this new technology shit. Next thing you know they're going to let fags back in the navy!" Sorry? WTF?!?! "You know, queers. homosexuals." My wonderful manager: "You know, they're just joining to protect their country." "there's no protecting going on there..." At this point he'd already paid or I'd have asked my manager to tell him to leave. He's disturbed our other customers. One was very mad.

Second Jerkism:
I went to add the money for him. The website was acting up so I had to call the company. Fine. Most people understand that the internet can be slow and the websites can act up. I call and help another person while I'm on hold. When he comes back, the lady picks up the other end and we start to get help. She asks the name on the account. His name is Penney. (last name) I didn't hear him say the second E so of course I misspelled it. "E y!!" (exasperated sigh from him) I'm not hiding my shock at how rude this man is at this point. Everyone else is seeing how bigoted and outrageous he's acting and its affecting them.

"I don't understand why it takes so much to add money to my phone"
"Sir, I'm doing the best I can to help you. You need to have some patience." FINALLY he shuts up. He can't remember his pin, he doesn't have the right secret answer, and he's mad because I'm taking too long.

I wanted so badly to yell at him. Do old people really think because they fought in Nam or whatever, they're entitled to be bigoted old asses with no respect for others? I mean, I was flat out surprised that he didn't say anything about the man I helped in the meantime who happened to be African American and in a wheelchair (the machine acted up for him too. So easy to do.) This guy was such a jerk. No respect for others around him, no respect for me, no respect for anyone.

People like that grate on me and stick with me. There's no reason for me to be mad but I am. GRR!!
